Mariam Beevi Lam

Mariam Beevi Lam is a faculty member at the University of California, Riverside in the Department of Comparative Literature and Foreign Languages. She received her Ph.D. in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Irvine in 2003. At UCR, she teaches Southeast Asian literature and visual cultures and also oversees Vietnamese language classes for her department. She is working on a book titled Surfin' Vietnam: Trauma, Memory and Cultural Politics in 20th Century Literature and Film. Professor Beevi Lam is a member of the Advisory Committee for Riverside 's Asian American Resource Center (still in planning) and has strong ties to the Vietnamese community in Orange County. She is the Co-Editor of the new Journal of Vietnamese Studies published by the University of California Press.
